When I was asked to think about my love story, my mind naturally went to my husband. When you bring the newly released James Avery Valentine collection into the picture, my mind immediately goes straight to my oldest son.
Born two weeks early, he slid into my heart on Valentine’s Day morning. He made me a mom. This little person taught me the absolute meaning of complete and unconditional love. He’s about to be 16 but I still see him as the little boy with crazy blonde hair and a passion for anything related to animals or nature.
To remind me of what holds his heart, I chose a James Avery running shoe charm. He just joined the high school track team but has run jr. cross country and plenty of 5K’s over the last few years.
When I was pregnant with son #2, my oldest was still just a toddler. I remember confessing to my mother-in-law that I felt bad for this baby. How could I possibly love another child as much as I loved my oldest? I couldn’t imagine. She just smiled knowingly and assured me that I would find a way.
This young man also arrived two weeks early; my kids seems to be in a big hurry like their mama. From the beginning I could tell that he and his brother were polar opposites – in looks, personality, everything. Yet, just like my mother-in-law said, I found that well of love reserved just for him. He’s hilarious and loves nothing more than truly horrible puns. For this child, I chose a James Avery music note. He’s one of those kids that can hear a song and then work out the notes himself. He entered high school this year, joined the marching band and loves it.
My third boy is what we will politely call my “bonus baby”. After the first two, I was DONE. Until I wasn’t. I cried. I was going to be 40 and potty training again. This was the kind of stuff that went through my head.
This boy. Y’all, he grabbed my heart and has not let go. He is the sweetest little boy. I joke with his brothers that they better shape up because this one is my favorite. He brings so much joy to our lives. I chose a James Avery charm that reminded me of what brings joy to his life – soccer. He’s not the fastest and he’s not the best, but he loves doing it just the same and that makes me so happy.
As bad luck would have it, a silver chain that I have had for almost thirty years recently broke. What would I put my charms on?!?! As a mom who is a runner, a school volunteer and a part-time child-care worker, I’m most often found in my workout clothes or jeans and a casual top. I needed something that was simple yet lovely.
I love how this chain is delicate but the U shaped charm holder gives it a little pop and brings just enough attention to itself.
The chain and charms go with pretty much anything, including my school volunteer gig and my messy desk. Real life y’all.
These boys are the human, walking around representations of my love story. They are what my husband and I created together. While the pieces I chose weren’t from the new James Avery Valentine collection, they allow me to wear reminders of each of my sweet babies.
Love comes in so many forms. Regardless of who your valentine is, you can find something at James Avery Artisan Jewelry that reminds you of that special person. They have so many beautiful pieces that are newly released in the James Avery Valentine collection!
