Disclosure: I was invited to a pre-opening media event to ride Battle For Metropolis for purposes of review. All opinions are my own.
If there is anything this girl loves, it’s a superhero. Marvel or DC, I’m an equal opportunity FanGirl.
This Boy Momma was excited when the DC Super Friends area opened at Six Flags Over Georgia last year. It was a nice addition to the long-running Superman: Ultimate Flight and Batman: The Ride attractions already at the park. The DC Super Friends area is geared toward the parks younger visitors.
My kids were seriously disappointed when they heard that Six Flags Over Georgia was clearing out their perennial favorite, the bumper cars, to make way for a new attraction.
Y’all. I think they’ll get over their heartache pretty quickly when they ride the new Justice League Battle For Metropolis ride!
The whole ride area has gotten a re-theme. Much like the Batman ride is in the Gotham area, this new area also housing the Superman ride is now Metropolis.
Let’s look at the ride building. I’ll admit, I was totally geeking out over this. It’s impressive, y’all.
Park President Dale Kaetzel officially opened up the ride with the help of a few friends. Super friends, to be exact.
Inside the ride line are other cool touches.
When you get up to the ride, your ride vehicle looks like this:
Inside the vehicle is space for three across and you each get your own blaster, each with a color assigned.
The ride is 4D, so you will be given a pair of 3D glasses before you board the ride vehicle. Pick up your blaster and get ready!
As you go through the ride, The Joker and Lex Luthor are up to no good and you need to blast them and their robots to stop them. As you do, your car spins and twists through Metropolis!
I rode this twice and I loved it. For my Disney fans, it’s like Buzz Lightyear, on steroids. Each person in your car gets their score tallied and the high score for the car is displayed at the end of the ride. This can be addictive. Don’t miss your ride photo on the way out!
I actually enjoyed exiting into a gift shop this time and had to stop myself from buying all the Wonder Woman things.
In addition to the ride, Metropolis has an updated games area and a new snack bar.
Remember those superheroes that were there? If you’ve been around here any time at all, y’all know I can’t pass up a good photo op. This guy – sheesh! I wasn’t scared.
I got to practice my super hero pose with these two:
As a superhero fan, I think this ride is a great addition to the DC theming that Six Flags Over Georgia has going. I love the new area; it was in dire need of an update. The Battle For Metropolis officially opens on May 26th at Six Flags Over Georgia. Grab a cape and fly on over!
