Disclosure: I was provided a complimentary meal for purposes of reviewing the Applebee’s 2 For $20 menu items. All opinions are my own.
I noticed that I had been spending a lot of time with just my youngest lately. I’d been invited to a few events that were more geared towards his interests, so the Little Man and I have been a dynamic duo.
When I got the chance to try out Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar’s new additions to the 2 for $20 menu, I thought it was the perfect chance to reconnect with my oldest son. The way to a teenage boy’s heart is most definitely through his stomach. Well, and with cash. And rides to the mall. But mostly food.
But, shockingly, Mr. Popularity had plans with friends and no time for Mom. I turned to my husband. He was on for taking the youngest to soccer practice. My middle son sprang up, volunteering as tribute. He is the pickiest eater in our house yet always wants to go out to eat.
I took a quick glance at the menu. Chicken Tenders? Alright kid, get in the car. Amidst all that delicious looking food, I can appreciate that included on the Applebee’s 2 for $20 menu is the staple of picky eaters everywhere, the chicken tender.
But first we got to pick an appetizer. Picky Pants doesn’t like cheese. That’s right. He might be the only kid in the world that doesn’t like cheese for non-allergy related reasons. But he does like chicken wings, so we opted for the boneless wings.
They came out piping hot. We had our choice of sauces but took the classic buffalo wing sauce. The wings had enough of a kick to make them flavorful but not enough to be too spicy.
When the entrees came out my son got his chicken fingers. He declined the honey mustard sauce, naturally.
My entree, though, was a thing of beauty. I ordered the new Spinach + Artichoke Chicken Cavatappi. Aside from being beautiful and full of color, it tasted amazing. This bowl is deceptive, y’all. It’s very deep and the portion is large. I made my husband a very happy man by bringing him leftovers for lunch tomorrow!
Restaurant guests could upgrade to the 2 for $25 menu as well. Both menus have new items added to the lineup, so if you have enjoyed Applebee’s 2 for $20 menu in the past, there are new options waiting to be explored!
With the appetizer and two entrees, this was a great value. Although my children are older now, I remember how many times the husband and I wanted to go out to eat on a date night, only to scrap the idea after factoring restaurant costs and the babysitter fee. The Applebee’s 2 for $20 menu, however, offers a budget friendly night out.
The inclusion of the appetizer encouraged my picky eater to try something new (buffalo sauce) without worrying about me being mad if he doesn’t like it and wouldn’t eat it. Wasting food drives me crazy, but wasting money really pushes me. The whole package is a great value so I wouldn’t have been upset if he didn’t like one of the foods.
The newly update Applebee’s 2 for $20 menu is rolled out at 40 restaurants in the Atlanta area! We dined at the Kennesaw location near Town Center Mall and the service was excellent. If you have been looking for a way to treat yourself to a meal out with a friend or loved one, Applebee’s has you covered!
